It really is this easy!

How’s your morning started?

This morning’s getting dressed process was a metaphor too good not to share…

The morning started like any other. The usual routine (yep, same one as ever!), then dried my hair, and opened my wardrobe to get dressed.

Wardrobe doors open, without much thought, I grabbed my trusty red Adidas Firebird tracksuit bottoms, a comfy white T-shirt (one of 3 of the same), grabbed a many-times-worn camel-coloured knit jumper, and whacked on the two necklaces I wear daily (well, I wear a combination of three, but that’s as much variation as I stretch to), a pair of comfy tried-and-tested socks, and a well-loved pair of Nike high tops that double up as a comfortable walking shoe that also look pretty good IMO! I was headed for a lovely autumn sunshine walk.

I’ve worn this outfit 1,000,000 times before, or a version of…

Why am I going on about getting dressed?

Because I realised I was getting dressed without having to think about whether the clothes went together, felt good, or worked for what I was about to do… I knew, without question, that I’d pulled out clothes that made me feel great—like ‘me.’ And that sparked a powerful realisation.

Allow me to expand…

This week I’ve been in various places (London, Birmingham, and Manchester) with various people, all connected to work in some way. I’ve spent time with mentors, peers, friends, and colleagues—many of whom run businesses with higher turnovers, have been at it longer, or are making a broader impact worldwide than I currently do (as is often the case with my clients too!).

They are brilliant, and I love the energy they bring.

These meet-ups involved being very open, vulnerable, and honest—talking about ‘me,’ Georgie the human being, or my business ‘Georgie the Nervous System Strategist’… (which is very much a part of Georgie the human).

For those who are new here, hello and welcome! You should know this…

I used to struggle with low self-worth, anxiety, depression and panic attacks, for a very long time, things that now feel like distant memories, a different me. It’s wild to be able to say that now!

Anyway… I want to get to the point.

This week, I was in the company of people who could have easily made me feel intimidated by their success, but I didn’t. I didn’t feel small. I didn’t feel less than. I felt incredibly confident, knew how much I had to offer in those rooms too, and really inspired.

The brilliant truth is, I am the happiest and most comfortable I have EVER been in my own skin. I feel completely in the right lane, feel like it’s a path that comes from deep within my gut, in the work I do, the person I am, and the life I’ve created. And that feels like a really wonderful, emotional, and powerful thing to say out loud.

I’m far from perfect (whatever that is supposed to be); I don’t have all my sh*t together, and there are still plenty of things in my life that aren’t as I’d want them to be—but despite all that, none of it matters. This is the best I’ve ever felt, and that confidence, and calm, secure feeling is everything.

When I zoom out and reflect, it’s a ‘pinch me—how is this my life and work?’ moment.

So here’s what I really want to share…

When you’re truly living from a place of being completely ‘you’, which means knowing your core values and living in line with what you truly believe, you bring with you a confidence and power like nothing else.

I feel it in my work every single day.

I am 100% confident in who I am and the work I do because they’re one and the same. Nervous system work isn’t just a reflection of how I live—it’s how I’ve become who I am. It’s why I deliver this work with such confidence, because I live it. I’ve seen how it’s changed my life, and every day I see how it changes my clients’ lives, in both business and life.

So what does this have to do with clothes?

Well… I went to an event this week, unsure of the ‘dress code’. So, instead of wearing trainers, I thought I ‘should’ be smarter and put on boots. I tucked in my shirt, thinking it ‘should’ look smarter. The minute I arrived, I could feel it immediately, I should’ve just worn ‘me’ through and through. The dress code/the ‘expected norm’ is irrelevant. When you feel ‘you’ that’s when you are most comfortable, physically, mentally and emotionally.

So here’s the point: it all boils down to just learning how to be your bloody self. To do what feels right to you, to listen to and act upon what feels right, and be in that space as often as possible! That’s when you’re most powerful, magnetic, successful, and happy.

So… When you’re in clothes that feel like you (or living a life that feels like you), there’s no question, no self-doubt, no discomfort, you just are. You’re calm, your nervous system is regulated, you feel totally safe - you’re in flow.

Now, often when clients start working with me, they are bending themselves into shapes they think they ‘should’ be. They’re doing what worked for someone else, trying to fit into a process that isn’t them, reaching for goals they haven’t really defined for themselves, and almost certainly living from old survival mechanisms stuck in their nervous systems.

This is dysregulation.

When your nervous system is dysregulated, you operate from a place of not feeling quite safe, emitting stress and reactivity. When it’s calm and regulated, you feel safe, you are calm, you make decisions from a place of confidence, and live in a way that feels true to you.

Getting dressed in my lovely faithful outfit this morning? That’s me being me, like I commit to being in every bit of my life nowadays.

When you’re YOU, you don’t need to think about what to put on or who to be—it just comes naturally, and both you and everyone around you can feel it.

You’re not wasting energy trying to be something you’re not. You’re at ease, in flow, confident, and everything becomes easier. And it all starts with learning how to regulate your nervous system, so you can be fully present, fully here as yourself every day. And THAT’s when you’ll create the life and success you really dreamed of that feels true to who you are.

If this strikes a chord, I’m offering a free 15-minute call where we can explore how nervous system regulation can help you. Let’s get you back to living and working in flow too. ❤️

Make this a brilliant week.
